Overview

UK Driving Tools ("we", "us", "our") operates ukdrivingtools.co.uk. The site is run by Prakash, who is the person responsible for deciding how personal data on the site is used. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it and what choices you have.

Our calculators run in your browser. The numbers you type into them are not sent to our servers or stored by us.

Information we collect

Information you provide

The values you enter into a calculator (such as mileage, income or dates) are processed locally in your browser. If you email us or use the contact page, we use the details you send only to reply to you.

Automatically collected information

When you visit, we and our service providers collect standard web analytics data, including:

• Pages visited and time spent on each page
• The website you came from
• Browser type and operating system
• Approximate location (country or region level), worked out from your IP address
• Device type (mobile, desktop or tablet)

This data is collected through Google Analytics 4. It is pseudonymous: it uses identifiers such as cookies rather than your name, and we do not try to identify individual visitors. We use it to understand how the site is used so we can improve it.

Our web host also keeps standard server logs, which can include IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running.

Cookies and consent

We use the following types of cookies:

• Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) to understand site usage. These are set by Google and are subject to Google's privacy policy.
• Advertising cookies (Google AdSense) to show advertisements. Google may use these to personalise ads. You can manage this in Google Ads Settings.

Under UK rules, analytics and advertising cookies need your consent. Use the cookie choices shown on the site to accept or refuse them, and you can change your mind at any time. You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Refusing cookies should not stop the calculators from working.

Advertising

We do not control which advertisements Google shows. We do not receive personal information from Google about individual ad interactions.

Third parties and links

Google (Analytics and AdSense) and our web host process data on our behalf or for their own purposes under their own terms. Some of this processing may take place outside the UK. Google's privacy policy explains how it handles data.

Our website links to external sites including GOV.UK, the DVLA and the Sentencing Council. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these sites, so please read their policies.

Your rights under UK GDPR

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Ask us to delete your data
• Ask us to restrict how we use your data, or object to it
• Withdraw consent for cookies at any time
• Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk

We hold very little personal data, so some of these rights may have limited practical effect. To make a request, contact us using the details below.

Data retention

Google Analytics keeps event-level data for the period set in our Analytics account, which is no more than 14 months, and then deletes it automatically. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to deal with your message.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the changes on this page and change the "last updated" date above.
