How the pages are made

• AI helps draft. Pages are drafted with the help of AI tools. I don't present AI-drafted text as personal driving experience, because it isn't.
• Figures come from official sources. Rates and rules are taken from GOV.UK, the DVLA, HMRC, Transport for London, the Sentencing Council and similar bodies. Each page names the sources it relies on.
• Calculators are tested. The worked examples on a page are run through the calculator's own formula, so the numbers in the text match what the tool gives.
• Pages are updated when things change. When a rate or rule changes, the affected pages are corrected and their "Updated" date changes. Dates are not changed just to look fresh.

What this site can't do

Nothing on UK Driving Tools is legal, financial or tax advice. The calculators give estimates based on published rates.

For anything with real consequences, such as your own licence record, a court case, a fine or a tax bill, check with the official source or a qualified adviser. Where a calculator can't account for something (for example a court's discretion, or your individual circumstances), the page says so.

Spotted a mistake?

If a rate looks out of date or a figure looks wrong, please let me know, ideally with a GOV.UK or other official link. I'll check it against the source and correct the page. You can also read more about the site on the About page.
